A two-night luxury stay at the new boutique hotel, Masseria Trapanà, in south-east Italy awaits one lucky Director reader and a guest
Boutique hotel Masseria Trapanà sits in 60 hectares of olive groves on the outskirts of the historic city of Lecce in Puglia. The beautifully renovated 16th-century property, a 10-minute drive from both the coast and vibrant city centre, offers a luxurious escape.
Owner Rob Potter-Sanders spent two years renovating the property, resulting in the creation of the authentic bolthole built in local tufo and pietra leccese stone. Each of the nine light-filled suites has been individually designed incorporating many original features uncovered during the renovation, including authentic fireplaces, vaulted ceilings, frescoes and cattle troughs.
Inspired by Potter-Sanders’s travels to Thailand and Bali, many of the suites have their own outdoor bathtub and private courtyard. Some have external showers and all are complete with luxurious Aesop toiletries. The furnishings have been handpicked from all over the world, from the vibrant Moroccan cushions that adorn the sunken seating area in the garden to the handmade iron beds in each suite.
Guests can relax by the large pool with oversized sunbeds or grab a hammock in a shady corner of one of six tranquil gardens, brimming with 19 varieties of fruit and nut trees including pomegranate and orange.
Resident chef Maria Carla delights guests with her delicious cucina povera, a local speciality, incorporating fresh home-grown produce from the gardens and the region.
Our exclusive prize worth around £1,500, offers one Director reader and guest two nights’ accommodation in a garden suite on a bed-and-breakfast basis with dinner for two on one night. It includes transfers to and from Brindisi airport.
