The past 12 months in business are set to be celebrated in style at this year’s IoD Annual Dinner, hosted by director general Stephen Martin at the Royal Lancaster Hotel on Wednesday 21 November.
Guests will be able to hear from secretary of state for international trade Liam Fox MP and enjoy a light-hearted look back at some of the year’s events from comedian Jo Brand.
“The final quarter of the year is always a good time for reflection,” says Martin. “My first year as director general has certainly been a busy one.
“I have visited members up and down the country, and I am heartened by the vigour and passion I have witnessed.
“It has been a pleasure to speak at many events over the past few months, from raising awareness of mental health in the workplace to championing the strengths of the UK’s corporate governance system here and abroad.
“I had a suspicion that taking the role of director general during this tumultuous time in politics would be interesting, but I did not expect my first few months to include a general election and neither did I anticipate its outcome.
“Politics may be unpredictable now but one thing that is certain from my recent trips, the resilience of the UK business community is undiminished.
“I would be delighted if you could join me at our 2017 Annual Dinner to celebrate that resilience and explore the opportunities on the horizon for businesses over the next year.
