When looking somewhere to stay in Zurich where you can make the most of business and pleasure The Dolder Grand comes top

Many hotels aim to strike a balance between the needs of business and wellbeing, but few do it better than the Dolder Grand. Just 20 minutes from the finance hub of Zurich, the imposing five-star retreat offers unrivalled views of the city, the lake and the Alps.

Designed by Foster + Partners and United Designers, it was reopened after significant renovations in 2008 and comprises 175 luxurious rooms and suites within the historic main building, along with new spa and golf wings.

Business guests can find a location for every type of meeting in one of the many libraries, lounges, salons and event rooms, or work comfortably from the bright and spacious guest rooms and suites.

For leisure, meanwhile, guests can choose from the 4,000-square-metre spa, a dip in the 25-metre pool, dining at the two-Michelin-starred restaurant or stylish new eatery Saltz, candle-lit cocktails at the bar, a tour of the hotel art collection or a round on the adjoining nine-hole golf course.

The spa focus is on The Dolder Grand Life Balance, to help you find the right balance in order to achieve physical and mental wellbeing no matter what your situation in life. As well as four programmes to choose from (Relax, Beauty, Vitality, Detox) guests can enjoy a range of treatments from facials to massages.

Facitities include the Sanaurium, steam bath, the chill out room and the snow paradise. There are also five Sunaburo loungers. These are bath tubs filed with fine warm black pebbles that are ideal for relaxing. Based on a Japanese idea they were designed especially for the Dolder Grand.

The Dolder Grand also offer their Meet in Balance package, a team-building day that works to foster team spirit, creative developments and the well-being of the team. The package includes a two-hour meeting in the Spa Library, treatments and use of the spa.

However if you’re just too tired to decide, however, that stunning view will do nicely.
