Stockholm’s Lydmar Hotel reviewed

Lydmar Hotel Stockholm

The Scandi-chic charm of the Lydmar Hotel makes it a winning place to stay when visiting the Swedish capital

Roughly a third of IoD members trade in Sweden, and with its multiplicity of new tech businesses it’s likely to be a place you’ll be visiting on business sooner rather than later. Smack bang in central Stockholm overlooking the old town, and within walking distance of the main train terminus, lies the Lydmar Hotel. With the Royal Swedish Opera and small ferry terminal nearby, and restaurants as far as the eye can see, it could not be better located. And with wonderfully high ceilings in all rooms, the Lydmar has its own bright take on Scandinavian style – art exhibits line the ground floor and photos from previous shows brighten up bedrooms. Though my immaculate room lacked a desk, it more than made up for this with the views, large bathroom and all-important Nespresso machine. The airy space downstairs functions as an all-purpose breakfast room in the morning, quiet lunch space in the afternoon and wonderful bar area in the evening. An ideal place to both work and unwind during any Scandinavian excursion.
