The fashion designer will urge British businesses to “look beyond borders” at the 2015 IoD Annual Convention…
British fashion accessories designer, and Director cover-star, Anya Hindmarch, whose often quirky designer handbags have won her plaudits the world over, has implored UK companies to be bold when it comes to selling products overseas.
Anya Hindmarch on international markets
“I’m always amazed how scared people are of exporting,” said Hindmarch, who is a UK Trade Ambassador. “I thought [my government role] would be encouraging the Japanese to buy British, when in fact my role is about encouraging people in the UK to sell abroad.”
Hindmarch – who now has over 50 stores worldwide – believes that being export focussed from the start is a major reason behind her success. “My second order was abroad,” she says, “and I’ve never been scared. I’ve always thought, ‘We’ve got the whole world to export to so let’s go.’”
Anya Hindmarch will be imparting her insights into cornering international markets at the IoD Convention, which takes place at the Albert Hall, London on Tuesday 6th October, and whose theme is ‘Taking Business Beyond Boundaries’.
