Sir Ranulph Fiennes to scale the IoD Annual Convention

Sir Ranulph Fiennes

Could Sir Ranulph Fiennes reveal next expedition at 2015 IoD annual convention?

He’s led a hovercraft expedition up the Nile, was the first man to complete a pole-to-pole circumnavigation of the globe, has run seven marathons on seven continents in seven days and, at the ripe age of 65, became the oldest Briton ever to conquer Everest.

Sir Ranulph Fiennes: Global citizen

To call Sir Ranulph Fiennes a global citizen would be an understatement. So it’s appropriate that the intrepid British explorer – whose full title is Sir Ranulph Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes, 3rd Baronet, OBE – is among the confirmed speakers at the IoD’s 65th Annual Convention, given that its theme is ‘Taking Business Beyond Boundaries’, a premise which promises a truly global scope.

The next expedition

Now, remarkably, the 70-year-old Sir Ranulph has suggested that his days of intrepid global adventure are anything but over. “I’ve just met with Marie Curie bosses and we have got something underway,” he revealed, referring to his preferred charity of choice. The only other detail he disclosed was that the adventure will cost more than the Marathon des Sables, which he completed in April this year. Might he be persuaded to reveal more to the IoD Convention, which will fill the Albert Hall with business leaders on October 6th? One thing is sure: this event is not to be missed.
