Is your firm making the best use of social media? Join marketing expert Martin Thomas at the IoD this month for this exciting course

Given that there are 2.8 billion social media users globally, 38.3 million of whom are in the UK, any business lacking social media skills is in danger of isolating itself from consumers. Despite this, a recent survey by the FT and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators has revealed that 47 per cent of the FTSE 350 haven’t discussed social media at strategic level in the past 12 months.

To address this anomaly, social media expert and author Martin Thomas – whose clients have included Xerox, Citibank and Royal Mail – will be leading an all-day course called “Social media strategy for directors” on 22 June (and again on 10 October) at 116 Pall Mall.

Featuring a wealth of brand management models, planning tools and recent case studies from a variety of industries, this highly focused programme is designed to help you protect the reputation of your firm’s brand online
and use social media as a driver of positive organisational change. It will also teach you how to harness the vast potential of social networks as a source of rich customer data while developing effective corporate policies.

The age of social media has presented companies with new opportunities, but also exposed them to new types of risk – something few are prepared to deal with yet.

Attendees of any age and background can therefore expect Thomas’s course to take a fresh, accessible approach.
