Anne-Marie Huby, co-founder of fundraising website JustGiving, joins the stellar line-up at the IoD Women in Business conference
Anne-Marie Huby, who launched JustGiving in 2000, will share the secrets of the charitable website’s success at the IoD Women in Business conference at 116 Pall Mall on 7 November. JustGiving has enabled more than 22 million people to raise £1.8bn for more than 13,000 charities.
Before setting up the business Huby ran the UK section of the humanitarian organisation Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) for seven years. From 1997 to 1999 she served as a trustee of the Disasters Emergency Committee, which brings together Britain’s leading aid agencies. The Belgium-born entrepreneur was a journalist before arriving in the UK to work for MSF.
“There has never been a better time to be a woman in business, especially in the UK,” she says. “Technology is transforming every aspect of our lives, and opening up new opportunities for women to thrive in corporations and early-stage companies. I look forward to sharing some of my experiences of growing JustGiving from start-up to global expansion, and meeting some of the UK’s most inspiring businesswomen into the bargain.”
Huby will join a line-up of speakers which includes Melanie Eusebe, founder of strategy consultancy The Fresh Ideas Company, Margaret Mountford, corporate lawyer and television personality, best-known for her role alongside Lord Sugar on The Apprentice, and journalist and author Eve Pollard. Tickets for the event, taking place from 9am to 4pm, cost £250 (plus VAT) for members and £300 (plus VAT) for non-members.
