Harbouring designs

Anna Casa Interiors is the latest high-end design store at Chelsea Harbour. Simon Hertson went along to find out more

As a generation force-fed a daily diet of property and home improvement shows on TV, it's no surprise that more of us think of ourselves as designers now. One cure for this misconception is to visit the shiny new showroom run by artist and designer Anna Dodonova.

Anna Casa Interiors is part of the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre and bristles with the sort of contemporary furniture that's so cool you just know it has to be Italian and which seems to laugh at the notion of "design it yourself" as easily as it disproves the theory that beautiful design can be done on a budget (the cheapest item in the store carries a price tag of £500).

Dodonova explains how the showroom came about: "I am passionate about contemporary furniture and design. I felt I could bring something really different and unusual to the mix."

The showroom does indeed bring something new, in the shape of the largest display of Reflex and Angelo Italian furniture in the world as well as two exclusive collections from Italian upholstered furniture firm Gurian.  All of which makes the showroom well worth a visit for anyone keen to keep "ahead of the design curve".

Those really keen to improve their design credentials might pay heed to Dodonova's predictions for future trends, including more versatile furniture that can be used in several rooms and an increasing use of metallic finishes.
