Bordeaux Quay

Situated in a converted warehouse on the Bristol Harbourside, Bordeaux Quay has a long connection with fine wine. It’s where ships used to unload barrels of the stuff from France for storage. Now the 16,000 sq ft warehouse has been stripped and reshaped and is home to one of the West Country’s most exciting new food projects, housing a restaurant, brasserie, bar, bakery, deli and cookery school. Best of all, the entire set up is intended to be as light on the environment as it is enjoyable in the mouth. Most of the food will come from the local area, meaning it is as natural, tasty and seasonal as possible and also reduces the amount of “food miles” (the distance various ingredients travel before making it onto your plate). Co-founder Barny Haughton explains the idea, “Although some of us are beginning to shop part-time in farmer’s markets, we are still a nation that doesn’t know how to cook properly and doesn’t value food. What I hope to do is restore true food values.”
