For years individual Dragons have been cashing in on their celebrity entrepreneur status by publishing a stream of business books. From autobiographies to "how to" guides on every imaginable aspect of business life, bookshelves are full of wisdom from "the Den".
Now the TV brand itself is having a go at extending into books. This one is the most relevant to anyone already running a business (others include Start Your Own Business and The Perfect Pitch), but even here it is hard to avoid the patronising tone that anyone familiar with the programme will recognise.
To a large extent the future of the recovery within the UK economy depends on our ability to encourage people to grow businesses rather than starting new ones. And there is plenty of good advice here. But the lecturing tone means all these books will appeal only to someone stumbling through the first few years after launch.
It's a shame because, combined with case studies of those who have entered the Den, it has the potential to offer much more. As it is, I'm out.
