State of the Nation 2010, a report by People 1st, warns that hospitality and tourism businesses need to improve the skills of employees to cope with a 10 per cent expansion in the sector by 2017.

The cruise industry is reporting double-digit growth and other parts of the sector are set to benefit from a golden decade of sport as the UK hosts the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Commonwealth Games and the Rugby World Cup.
