The September Travelex Confidence Index found that 63 per cent of UK exporters think spending cuts and tax rises will hurt industry. Exporters and importers in manufacturing fear that they will be hit hard by the coalition's fiscal squeeze, with more than half (53 per cent) saying that financial tightening will harm the sector.
